What I love about opera

I'm guest posting about my passion for opera over at Rabia Gale's Writer at Play website.  Opera is the single thing I love more than anything else, even over movies, books, writing.  It's the one thing I would not want to live without.  Rabia was kind enough to let me ramble on about why I love it so much.

Rabia is an excellent writer I've known for quite awhile now.  She has published some great fantasy stories.  I particularly enjoy reading her fairy tale re-workings, but have really loved every story I've read by her.

Abby came over and watched this whole clip with me :-) Her verdict? "Uh-oh! Shoe-shoes." Make of that what you will...

LOL! That's awesome! Abby-talk! Hm. Maybe her radar is already developing and she's saying "That dude is bad news! He will just love and leave you?" Or maybe she thinks he just has cool shoes?

Just noticed Simon has the leaning thing down. Rowr. He can come sing under my window any day. Did I ever tell you about the big "serenade" conversation our family had? They all think it's creepy, and I'm like, creepy???? It's romantic! I would love being serenaded! Random tangent.

Never in a million years would I have guessed you were a fan of opera! Have you been able to attend any events? Way back in the mid-80's, my boss and his wife took me to a performance of the Orlando Opera Company. That was my only experience with attending an event.

Yep, big time fan. Opera is nearly as important to me as breathing! I have been very fortunate to be able to attend regular events the last few years. I'm currently an LA Opera and San Diego Opera subscriber. So, that's a minimum of 8-9 live operas a year I'm going to, plus I've been able to attend operas at other venues when something good comes up, like at the Hollywood Bowl, LA Phil, Pacific Symphony, etc. It's so very exciting right now how much opera is available!! And that doesn't include opera in the movie theater, which is getting more popular.

Maybe she was disconcerted that it didn't show his shoes?

But you're right, he has the leeeeeeeaning thing down pat. Rowr indeed.

I think I would enjoy being serenaded as long as I wasn't already asleep and they woke me up. But nope, I don't find it creepy at all. Unless the person serenading was a creepy stalker or something.
