Huzzah! The List!

Of these, I have NOT seen 27. So I have a bit of catch-up to do, but not much.

Without bopping back and forth to my lists to check and see if I'm remembering correctly, I think we have 18 in common.

I need to buy Dead Again.

Whoa. 27 seems like an awful lot! *runs off to check your list and see how many of yours I haven't seen*... Okay, I haven't seen 11 of yours. And I dig how many on your list I've seen that I probably wouldn't have seen except for you. How cool is that?

Yep, we have 18 in common. We had 19, but I dropped one off during the final finagling. L and I have 43. LOL! No surprise, being sisters who grew up on the same movies. D and I had 19.

Dead Again rocks. I will probably be re-watching soon cuz I'm in a huge mood for it.

The ones I haven't seen are Aliens, Full Monty, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Lonely are the Brave, Big Hero 6, Crossed Swords, The Fifth Element, For Greater Glory, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Postman, Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, Island at the Top of the World, Kiss Me Deadly, Open Range, Our Man Flint, Time After Time, Black Rain, Brassed Off, Dragonslayer, How to Train Your Dragon, Jungle Book, Lockout, Ride Lonesome, The Vikings, Expendables 3, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Sunshine, and Time Machine. So I was wrong -- 28! (I mixed up Ride Lonesome with Ride the High Country.)

If it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't have seen 10 of the ones on your list that I've seen. Dead Again is one of those. And some of them I might not have, I just can't remember if I saw them directly because of you, or if you were the tipping point that pushed me from "kinda want to" to "watching it now."

DKoren said...

I guessed most of those, but was off on a couple. You've seen Time After Time, cuz I showed it to you on your visit here, though you may not remember much of it. And I thought you'd seen Journey to the Center of the Earth, because don't you guys quote it? Maybe I'm thinking of something else?

You really need to see Ride Lonesome. I love that one, but I don't even own it myself because I think it's only out as part of a Randolph Scott DVD pack. My parents have it and I'm always watching it every time I visit them.

The ones of yours I haven't seen are Anne of Green Gables, Conspiracy Theory, Destry Rides Again, Jane Eyre (though I watched one version... just can't remember which one you had me watch), Mr. Mom, Operation Pacific, Risen, Rocky III, The Blue and the Gray, The Sting, You've Got Mail.

There are 26 movies on your list that I wouldn't have seen if you hadn't 1) showed them to me directly, or 2) we watched together online, or 3) you recommended I see them. That's a fourth of them!!

Oh! I think I fell asleep during Time After Time, didn't I? Because I was transitioning over from nights to days AND pregnant. I know I totally fell asleep during Without a Clue at your parents' house too, and felt so bad about it. I did find that one again and watch the rest of it though.

Amazon has Ride Lonesome as part of a RS 6-pack AND by itself, one of those nice burned-to-order vault movie things.

If I had you watch Jane Eyre, it was undoubtedly the Timothy Dalton one. That's my fave. I can't believe you haven't seen Operation Pacific yet -- John Wayne and submarines!!! The others... I think you'd get a kick out of Destry Rides Again.

Of the ones of yours I haven't seen, the only ones I have no real desire to see are Aliens, Full Monty, The Fifth Element, and Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan. And if we happened to be hanging out together together, I would probably watch any but Khan with you. The others I do want to watch! Some more than others.

DKoren said...

And you're not allowed to watch Sunshine, ever.

Yes, I think you did fall asleep during Time After Time, cuz on top of all that, you were jetlagged too! :-D

I don't know why I don't just own that 6-pack already, as I like Tall T and Comanche Station... so, a few clicks of buttons, and now I do own it. LOL! (And I see Amazon raised its free shipping to only orders over $50. Sigh.)

Hamlette (Rachel) said...

Right! No Sunshine for me.

I put the 6-pack on my wish list. But... today, I already bought an Alan Ladd movie (Saskatchewan), Dead Again, and a copy of Sarah, Plain and Tall (the book) because I discovered I don't have it and it's never in at the library when I want it. That's enough buying things online for this week.

DKoren said...

Hahahah! You're going to run out of his movies to buy at this rate!

I've been really good about not buying anything, except the new A/C unit... but since that isn't fun, I figure March should have some enjoyable purchase!

Happily, Ladd was very prolific in his few years of stardom. Unhappily, he was so popular, it didn't matter to audiences if his movies were any good or not, so reportedly, he got stuck in a lot of mediocre things. Happily, I haven't *not* enjoyed one of his movies yet :-)

Interesting list. I'll have to watch some of the ones I haven't seen, although I have seen most of them, many are on my list as well. :)

Yes, I know from some of the lists you've posted that we share quite a few favorites! That's so cool!

Yay for "The Force Awakens"!! :-)

DKoren said...

Yes!! And it's out on DVD today as well, though that makes me kind of sad also, as I would rather watch it on the big screen.

Great list! Evita <3 And isn't that a coincidence; I just finished selecting some scenes from Epic :)
